Beach-break

Went away to Kota Kinabalu for a short trip over the weekend. As many would've thought that KK is famous for it's mount climbing, but, strenous will-power inducing exercises are soo not for me.. All I want is to laze away in the sun, away from all the hustle & bustle of city life. For that, I didn't even turn on my phone for all 4 days & hardly going online.

Left for KK on Thursday night after work and woke up nice and early to start the island day tour.

A private beach which overcharged us. Grr...

That's the group of ang mohs we came with.

As much as I don't enjoy seafood, the few dishes we had at one of KK's most popular seafood restaurant was mouth-watering! But of course, it was also an overpriced one. For just 3 of us, we spent almost $200! To think Malaysia would've been cheaper?

I was supposed to plan day 2. And with my style of travelling, I try to do as much as I can on my own. I didn't want to join any day tour cause they were overpriced so I went to the jetty and organised everything there myself. And that only came up to 1/3 of what we forked out yesterday for the day trip.
Sapi Island had even clearer beaches and more fishes compared to Gaya.

If you looked hard enough, you would be able to see the fishes in the background.

Then we went over to Mamutik Island which had so many baracudas!
I should invest in an underwater camera.

See those black stuffs? Those are sea urchins... Scary. I always get jelly legs when I swim across them...

And that night, we went across the hotel to the local night market for dinner. Met a very nice hawker who brought us around and told us what was good to eat. Bill for that very filling meal? RM30!

On Sunday, we woke up at 6am to head to the local's Sunday market... My sister and I got so smitten by all the cats on sale there. Tempted to just buy 1 of them and put it into my luggage!

Unfortunately, just upon checking out of the hotel, I became very sick. Subsequently, I threw up my breakfast just before boarding the plane and started running a fever. Lucky for me, the guys at the airport took my temperature and let me off.
Nonetheless, it was a good trip with my family... & also fulfilled 1 of my yearly must-have beach holiday.

Sunburnt,
Me.
